Vista Grande Drainage Basin Improvement Project

Overview

In coordination with the City of Daly City, the project will divert stormwater from the Vista Grande Watershed to South Lake Merced and better manage stormwater transport to the Pacific Ocean to increase Lake levels, improve stormwater quality, and help restore the Lake Merced Drainage Basin’s natural hydrology.

Vista Grande Drainage Basin Improvements. Project Scope This project will improve stormwater transport to the Pacific Ocean and allow diversion of water to Lake Merced to help manage lake levels and restore the area’s natural hydrology. It includes significant lakeshore habitat restoration. The project will improve the existing stormwater tunnel, install a diversion infrastructure and debris screening system, and create two treatment wetlands. California’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund is capitalized through a variety of funding sources, including grants from the United States Environmental Protection Agency and state bond proceeds.
