San Francisco Public Utilities Commission Notice of Public Hearing Result:

Notice of Result of Public Hearing of April 28, 2026 (Posted April 30, 2026):

In accordance with San Francisco Charter, section 16.112, and the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission’s (SFPUC) Rules of Order, on March 27, 2026, the SFPUC posted notice that it would hold a public hearing to consider resolutions to adopt the following proposed schedules of rates, effective on or after the dates listed, below: 

  1. Retail Water Rates for FYE 2027 (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027) and FYE 2028 (July 1, 2027 – June 30, 2028); 
  2. Retail Sewer Rates for FYE 2027 (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027) and FYE 2028 (July 1, 2027 – June 30, 2028); and 
  3. Hetch Hetchy Power Rates for FYE 2027 (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027). 

The Commission heard these matters at its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. in Room 400, City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, CA and via videoconference. 

Summary of Determinations
The above items were presented for consideration by Matthew Freiberg, Rates Manager, and the Commission approved each schedule of rates on April 28, 2026, by roll call vote as follows: 

  • Affirmative (Yes): President Joshua Arce, Vice President Stephen Leveroni, Commissioner Avni Jamdar, and Commissioner Meghan Thurlow
  • Dissenting (No): None
  • Absent: Commissioner Kate Stacy
  • Abstain: None

San Francisco Public Utilities Commission Notice of Public Hearings scheduled:

Public Hearing, discussion, and possible action to adopt proposed amendments to SFPUC’s water, sewer, and power miscellaneous fines, fees and charges. The resolutions to be presented at the hearing are: (1) Proposal to Adopt Revised Miscellaneous Fees Related to the Water Enterprise (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027); (2) Proposal to Adopt New Miscellaneous Fees Related to the Wastewater Enterprise (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027); and (3) Proposal to Adopt New Miscellaneous Fees Related to the Power Enterprise (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027). A Public Hearing to consider updating Section F (Water Efficient Irrigation) of the SFPUC Rules and Regulations Governing Water to Customers (Water Service Rules) to prohibit irrigation of nonfunctional turf (grass) at public, commercial, industrial, and institutional (CII) sites with potable water in alignment with Assembly Bill 1572. Public Notification for First Approval Action for the Cherry Dam Spillway Short-Term Improvement Project

The SFPUC intends to adopt the Final Mitigated Negative Declaration (FMND), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) findings and Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program (MMRP) for the first approval action under CEQA on the Cherry Dam Spillway Short Term Improvement Project.
