Overview
The East SOMA Sewer Improvements Project will rehabilitate the existing 100-year-old sewer mains and sewer lower laterals located under several streets highlighted on the Project Maps.

Mission Street (7th Street and 6th Street)
- June 9: Backfill and restore streetbase for two sewer manholes
- June 9: Re-mobilize to perform the de-energization of the OCS
- June 10 – 13: Complete AC paving for the sewer manholes, laterals, and culverts
- June 13: Perform final re-energization of the OCS
Mission Street (6th Street and 5th Street)
- June 10 – 13: Complete AC paving for the sewer manholes, laterals, and culverts
7th Street (Mission Street and Market Street)
- June 9 – 10: Excavate and replace sewer lateral
- June 9 – 10: Demo and replace concrete parking strip
- June 12 – 13: Perform initial cleaning and CCTV inspection of sewer main for lining
- June 14 – 15: Perform additional sewer culvert lining
3rd Street (Folsom Street and Harrison Street)
- June 6 – 8: Perform sewer main lining
- June 9 – 10: Backfill and restore streetbase for the sewer manhole
- June 9 – 10: Demo and replace concrete parking strip
- June 9 – 10: Replace streetbase for additional sewer culvert
- June 9 – 10: Replace streetbase for additional sewer lateral
Howard Street (Fremont Street and Main Street)
- June 11-13: Excavate and replace additional sewer laterals
- June 14 – 15: Perform initial cleaning and CCTV inspection of sewer main for lining
- June 15 – 20: Perform sewer main lining

Project Background
To minimize impacts to the roadway and adjacent residences and businesses, most of the sewer rehabilitation work will be performed using a trenchless method called Cured-In-Place-Pipe (CIPP). Construction will include improvements to sewer lower laterals within the project area. In some locations, street excavation may be required, and advance notice will be provided.

What to Expect During Construction
SEWER SERVICE: These services will NOT be interrupted during construction.
PARKING: Street parking will be impacted near construction zones. “No-parking” signs will be posted 72 hours in advance.
TRAFFIC: Partial lane closures may be necessary to ensure safety of workers and the public. Advance notice and detour signage will be provided, as needed.
MUNI: Passenger loading zone for bus stops may be temporarily relocated. Advance notice and detour signage will be provided as needed.
ACCESS: Follow posted signage on site. Driveway access to businesses and residents in the work zone will be maintained during construction.
NOISE: Neighbors may hear construction noise periodically. Noisy work will be conducted in compliance with the San Francisco Noise Ordinance.
ODORS: If necessary, odor control measures will be in place during construction. Please see CIPP page for more information: sfpuc.org/curedpipe.
NOTICE: A 30-day and 10-day notice will be distributed prior to construction to residents and businesses within the project area before construction begins.
