Overview
The West SOMA, Panhandle and Inner Sunset Large Sewer Improvements Project will rehabilitate the existing 100-year-old sewer mains and sewer laterals located under the streets highlighted on the Project Maps.

Project Background
To minimize impacts to the roadway and adjacent residences and businesses, most of the sewer rehabilitation work will be performed using a trenchless method called Cured-In-Place-Pipe (CIPP). Construction will include improvements to sewer lower laterals within the project area. In some locations, street excavation may be required, and advance notice will be provided.

Week of Jan. 5, 2026:
Divisadero Street (Fell Street to Oak Street)- Jan. 6 – Jan.9, 2026: Curb restoration.
Fell Street (Cole Street to Clayton Street)
- Jan. 7 – Jan. 9, 2026: Replace sewer laterals.
Cole and Oak Intersection
- Jan. 6, 2026: Replace sewer laterals.
Week of Jan. 12:
Divisadero Street (Fell Street to Oak Street)- Jan. 12 – Jan. 16, 2026: Street restoration.
Fell Street (Cole Street to Clayton Street)
- Jan. 12 – Jan. 13, 2026: Replace sewer laterals.
- Jan. 14 – Jan. 16, 2026: Installation of manhole.

What to Expect During Construction:
- SEWER SERVICE: These services will NOT be interrupted during construction.
- PARKING: Street parking will be impacted near construction zones. No-Parking signs will be posted 72 hours in advance.
- TRAFFIC: Partial lane closures may be necessary to ensure safety of workers and the public. Advance notice and detour signage will be provided, as needed.
- MUNI: Passenger loading zone for bus stops may be temporarily relocated. Advance notice and detour signage will be provided as needed.
- ACCESS: Follow posted signage on site. Driveway access to businesses and residents in the work zone will be maintained during construction.
- NOISE: Neighbors may hear construction noise periodically. Noisy work will be conducted in compliance with the San Francisco Noise Ordinance.
- ODORS: If necessary, odor control measures will be in place during construction.
- NOTICE: A 30-day and 10-day notice will be distributed prior to construction to residents and businesses within the project area before construction begins.
