Electrify My Ride
Electrify My Ride is Currently Closed
August 18 Update: We are grateful for the overwhelming public response to the Electrify My Ride e-bike rebate program. All 1,000 rebates were claimed this morning, August 18, in just a few hours. We are no longer accepting applications at this time. Participants who received a rebate have 60 days to redeem it. If any rebates are not redeemed, they will become available again. This strong response shows how ready San Franciscans are to embrace cleaner, healthier ways of getting around our City. Thank you again!

-
Am I a CleanPowerSF or Hetch Hetchy Power customer? How can I check?
It can be confusing to know if you are a CleanPowerSF or Hetch Hetchy Power customer, so we're here to help. The easist way to check is to look at your monthly electricity bill.
If you receive a monthly electricity bill from PG&E, you are most likely a CleanPowerSF customer. Check for CleanPowerSF under "Account Summary" on the first page of your bill. If you see "CleanPowerSF Electric Generation Charges," you are a CleanPowerSF customer. See "Understanding Your Electricity Bill" Page 2 for more information.
If you receive a monthly electricity bill from the SFPUC, you are a Hetch Hetchy Power customer. Most Hetch Hetchy Power customers live in affordable housing buildings, or reside in new developments like The Shipyard in the southeast part of San Francisco.
Still not sure? Just give us a call at 415-554-0773.
-
When does the program end?
The program ends when the funding runs out. Funds are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis; apply as soon as possible.
-
What if I applied last year?
If you didn’t use your coupon before the previous deadline, you’ll need to reapply this year to be considered. If you did redeem your coupon last year and purchased an e-bike, you do not qualify for this year's program.
-
What if I qualify for a discount program, but I'm not enrolled?
We encourage you to apply right away for the discount program you are eligible for. That would be the Customer Assistance Program (if you're a Hetch Hetchy Power customer) or CARE/FERA (if you're a CleanPowerSF customer).
Once you receive proof you have successfully been enrolled, email us and we'll add you to our system of eligible customers. However, we can't guarantee there will be available Electrify My Ride coupons at that time. However, you would start receiving a monthly discount on your electricity bill and be eligible for any future cycles of Electrify My Ride (as long as you remained in the discount program).
-
Can I bring my e-bike on public transit?
Yes! You can bring e-bikes onto:
- BART: Allowed, but battery size must be under 300Wh for unrestricted access.
- Muni: Folding e-bikes are allowed inside, others must use bike racks.
- Caltrain: Standard-size e-bikes are welcome in designated bike cars.
-
What’s the maintenance like?
E-bikes are low-maintenance, but here’s what to keep in mind:
- Battery – Charge it regularly and store it at room temperature.
- Tires – Keep them inflated for smooth rides and better efficiency.
- Brakes & chain – Check every few months for wear and tear.
-
Are there rules for riding an e-bike in SF?
Yes! But they’re pretty simple:
- No license or registration required.
- Bike lanes are OK for most e-bikes.
- Helmets are required for riders under 18 - but always recommended for all ages.
- No e-bikes on sidewalks. (Unless marked otherwise.)
