21st Street Water Main Replacement Project

Overview

This project will replace aging water and sewer pipes, most of which are more than 120 years old. New 8” ductile iron water mains, and one block of 12” vitrified clay pipe (VCP) sewer main will be installed. Ductile iron offers greater strength and flexibility than cast iron, while VCP pipes have excellent durability, corrosion resistance, and longevity.

These infrastructure improvements will help maintain critical utility services and avoid disruptive emergency repairs.

Water and sewer main upgrades are planned for:

  • 20th Street from Eureka to Collingwood streets
  • 21st Street from Eureka to Church streets
  • Hill Street from Castro to Church streets
  • Diamond Street from 20th to 21st streets
  • Collingwood Street from 20th to 21st streets
  • Noe Street from Liberty to Hill streets
