University Mound Reservoir North Basin Roof Coating Project

University Mound Reservoir is one of the SFPUC’s largest in-city reservoirs, supplying drinking water to thousands of San Francisco residents. The protective coating on the North Basin roof has deteriorated due to prolonged exposure to the city’s harsh weather conditions and has reached the end of its useful life. 

Crews will recoat the exterior roof membrane to restore its protective barrier. This work will help ensure that the roof remains watertight, supporting the continued protection and quality of the drinking water supply.

Reapplying this coating will extend the roof warranty by another 20 years. These improvements will help maintain the reservoir’s long-term reliability and support the continued delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water to San Francisco customers.
