The air is getting crisper and cooler and it’s safe to say that the holiday season is upon us! With Small Business Saturday on November 29, take some time to browse small businesses in San Francisco and shop local. This is your opportunity to shop small and support businesses served by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission's (SFPUC) clean energy programs, CleanPowerSF and Hetch Hetchy Power. Here are several businesses that not only contribute to the local economy but also embrace the power of cleaner energy:

Owner of Diju Jewelry, Diana Medina.

Take a Walk Down Calle 24, the Heart of the Mission District

Start your journey at La Palma, where you’ll find an incredible variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, plus full catering services. From hearty to savory enchiladas and sopes, their menu is rich with flavor. For those who cherish gifts made with love, La Palma also crafts its own corn and flour tortillas and fresh masa from scratch.

As you continue along Calle 24, make a stop at Diju Jewelry. Owner Diana Medina makes beautiful necklaces and bracelets by hand and offers expert watch and jewelry repairs. Whether you are searching for a brand-new piece or hoping to restore a treasured item, Diju Jewelry shines with exquisite choices.

Farther down the street, discover La Victoria Panadería, San Francisco’s oldest Mexican bakery. Step inside and smell the aromas of freshly baked sweets. Share the experience, and some of the city’s best pan dulce, with the loved one who will appreciate it most.

Venture to the Dogpatch, Bernal Heights, and the Bayview

Now make your way to Ungrafted, a Black-owned restaurant and wine bar, a CleanPowerSF customer located in the Dogpatch. Opened in 2018, owners Rebecca Fineman and Christopher Gaither are also sommeliers, and they had one goal in mind in opening Ungrafted: to share their love of distinct and balanced flavors and warm hospitality with friends and neighbors and all of San Francisco. This is the perfect way to spend an evening, giving the gift of a memorable experience.

Located south of the Dogpatch is Bernal Heights and home to Pinhole Coffee. For coffee enthusiasts, Pinhole serves quality coffee, with coffee beans to purchase, making for a great gift. It also has a variety of teas sourced from the Bay Area and fun coffee-themed gifts.

The next stop is Gumbo Social, a Black-owned restaurant in the Bayview that gained a loyal following as a pop-up at local farmer’s markets for its soul food cuisine. Owner and chef Dontaye Ball also offers several vegan options including a poboy with jackfruit, making it the perfect restaurant for everyone to enjoy a flavorful meal.

Support Small Businesses this Holiday Season

These are just some of the many amazing small businesses powered by CleanPowerSF and Hetch Hetchy Power. As the holiday season approaches, the SFPUC encourages you to explore the local businesses of San Francisco and find ways to support them. Happy holidays from the SFPUC family to yours!
