The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) has partnered with the San Francisco Giants again this summer to encourage our customers to reduce water waste and take advantage of expert advice and free water saving devices.

If you visit Oracle Park from now until the end of the season, you’ll see our messaging on LED displays all over the Park. Our public service announcement featuring Lou Seal plays before each game.

Our water supplies depend upon snow and rain to fall in our reservoirs. More frequent and severe droughts mean there will be less water to go around. Every drop we save now is one we can count on when it’s dry.

Here are five easy things you can do right now to pitch in and save water:

  • Turn off the tap when you wash the dishes, wash your face, or brush your teeth. Every minute of running water wastes more than three gallons.

  • Fix leaks. A leaking toilet can waste over 200 gallons of water a day.

  • Water outdoors only when your plants need it. The SFPUC provides rebates on irrigation controllers that use the weather or soil to determine when your plants really need watering.

  • Sign up for free water wise checkups if you are in San Francisco.  We will give you free water saving devices like efficient showerheads while we’re at it.

  • Spread the word. We offer devices and rebates to San Francisco businesses and residents, renters and property owners.

Together we can hit a home run with water savings! Learn more at sfpuc.gov/saveup.
