CONSTRUCTION LOOK AHEAD -- REPLACE CONCRETE PANELS DAMAGED BY PIPELINE INSTALLATION
Concrete panels on Sixth Avenue and on Funston Avenue roadways that were disrupted by the installation of water pipeline construction for the Parnassus Avenue Water Main Replacement Project, will be reconstructed soon.
- The construction on Sixth Avenue from Kirkham Street to Locksley Avenue, is anticipated to start April 27 and continue through May 7.
- The construction on Funston Avenue from Lawton Street to Aloha Street, is expected to start April 28 and continue through May 8.
Residents' driveways may be impacted by this concrete restoration. Those driveways will be inaccessible for at least 24 hours while the concrete hardens enough to bear the weight of a vehicle crossing it.
Industry standards require the newly poured concrete panels be closed to traffic while they cure (dry) to ensure the concrete achieves its maximum compressive strength. The total curing time is expected to take up to 7 days before the panels can be opened to regular roadway traffic.
After 24 hours, the panels will be dry enough to open for driveway in and out access. There may be noise, vibration, dust, parking and traffic impacts in the work zone and disruption to normal neighborhood activity.
Weather and construction issues could impact the schedule. General workdays and hours (weather permitting) are Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- After the concrete streets are restored, the asphalt paving will be restored, followed by striping of lanes and other traffic markings. Dates are not yet set for the asphalt paving.
