Every day, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) relies on data to keep essential services running safely, efficiently, and equitably. From mapping infrastructure to responding to emergencies, accuracy matters. But did you know that much of the technology that makes this work possible, such as the Global Positioning System (GPS), exists because of the groundbreaking contributions of a Black mathematician named Gladys West?

Fifteen years adds up to real impact – and that's worth celebrating! From environmental education and public art to outreach services, environmental justice, and land revitalization, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission's (SFPUC) Community Benefits team has spearheaded thousands of programs, countless community connections, and many meaningful conversations. What began as a bold vision has grown into a results-driven effort that strengthens neighborhoods in San Francisco and beyond, while advancing equity, justice, and sustainability.

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) approved an unprecedented reduction in its CleanPowerSF electricity rates, cutting generation charges by 20% to 25%. The rate cuts will take effect March 1.
