Overview
As part of the SFPUC's wastewater capital investments, the Hayes Valley Sewer Improvements Project will rehabilitate the existing 100+ year old sewer mains located under several streets located in Hayes Valley.

Upcoming Construction Work:
McAllister Street (Laguna to Octavia)
- Sewer main lining will be occurring continuously beginning Monday, April 28 to Thursday, May 1.
Oak Street (Laguna to Octavia)
- Mortaring will be occurring in the area on April 28.
Oak Street (Octavia to Gough)
- Mortaring will be occurring in the area from April 28-29.
Oak Street (Gough to Franklin)
- Mortaring will be occurring in the area from April 29 – 30.
Oak Street (Franklin to Van Ness)
- Mortaring will be occurring in the area from April 30 – May 1.
Page Street (Octavia to Franklin)
- Mortaring will be occurring in the area from May 1 - May 2.

Project Background
Wherever possible and to minimize impacts to the roadway and adjacent residences and businesses, most of the sewer mains will be rehabilitated with a trenchless method called Cured-in-Placed Pipe (CIPP). Where cured-in-place cannot be performed, the sewer mains will be replaced or rehabilitated with open-excavation. Construction will include improvements to sewer lower laterals within the project area, which may also require open-excavation. When completed, this project will increase the reliability of our City’s critical sewer system infrastructure.

What to Expect During Construction
SEWER SERVICE: These services will NOT be interrupted during construction.
PARKING: Street parking will be impacted near construction zones. “No-parking” signs will be posted 72 hours in advance.
TRAFFIC: Partial and/or full lane closures may be necessary to ensure safety of workers and the public. Advance notice and detour signage will be provided, as needed.
MUNI: Passenger loading zone for bus stops may be temporary relocated. Advance notice and detour signage will be provided as needed.
ACCESS: Follow posted signage on site. Driveway access to businesses and residents in the work zone will be maintained during construction.
NOISE: Neighbors may hear construction noise periodically. Noisy work will be conducted in compliance with the San Francisco Noise Ordinance.
ODORS: If necessary, odor control measures will be in place during construction. Please see CIPP page for more information.
NOTICE: A 30-day and 10-day notice will be distributed prior to construction to residents and businesses within the project area before construction begins.
